Are all guests invited to attend all of the events listed on the home page of this website?
Yes, indeed! As you probably know, we have friends and family members spread throughout the country (and even a few international guests!). Thus, we decided that we wanted to make our wedding weekend feel like a big family and friends "reunion" to give everyone more time to connect with each other! We hope that all of our guests will be able to spend as much time "hanging out" with us at The Retreat as possible!
What will the weather be like?
Typically in early March in the Austin area, the temperature is in the 70s during the days and in the 50s during the nights. We are "crossing our fingers" (and toes!) that the temperature will be pleasant during the wedding weekend! However, The Retreat has many "backup" options in case there is a cold front, heat wave, or rain. Please dress for the weather and come prepared to have fun no matter what the weather decides to do!
What activities will be available for me to do during the weekend?
We hope that our wedding guests will be able to participate in as many activities as they want! There are many activities that will be openly available on-site all weekend, including corn hole, washers, tetherball, ping-pong, pickleball, Gaga ball, frisbee golf, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, and hiking/jogging. There are also fields for playing football, soccer, and kickball if anyone wants to get a game going! Indoors, there is a game room with a pool table, chess, board games, and cards. In addition, there is a 24-hour fitness room that includes weights, yoga mats, and a sauna. If the weather is warm enough, we might be able to make fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding available. (So, if the weather prediction for the weekend is warm weather, you might want to throw a swimsuit in your suitcase just in case! And if the weather will be cool, bring lots of layers if you want to do the outdoor activities!) There are a few "special" activities (that require staff supervision) that will be available for our guests on Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon. These activities are skeet shooting, archery, and ziplining. (Please see the home page of this website for the schedule for those activities!)
Do I need to bring my own recreational equipment (such as balls and paddles)?
The Retreat will have equipment available (free of charge) for all the recreational activities listed above. However, if you have the ability and desire to bring your own equipment, you are more than welcome to do that!
I heard that there are cabins on-site for guests to stay in. Can I reserve a cabin?
The Retreat does have on-site cabins that some of our guests will be able to stay in. Although we would absolutely love to be able to offer a cabin to all of our guests, there are unfortunately not enough cabins to accommodate everyone. We are offering cabins first to our family members and wedding party and their families. If there are still cabins available after that, we will offer them to additional guests. If you do not hear from Jake or Jen (or one of their "proxies!") with an offer to stay in a cabin, please plan to book a hotel room (or other arrangement of your choice). If you have a strong desire or specific need to stay in a cabin, please tell Jake or Jen. We cannot make promises at this point, but we will certainly do our best to try to accommodate your need/desire!
Can I park my car on-site at The Retreat?
Yes! There is an open parking lot close to the entrance of The Retreat. Also, guests who are staying in cabins will be able to park their cars at their cabins.
